A Study for An Influence of Vitamin C Megadose Therapy on Pyuria

Abstract

|
We daily checked urine of 20 patients received the major operation(gastrectomy, biliary surgery etc.) with Foley catheter insertion. At the same time, At the same time, vitamin C 3 gm/day was administrated daily intravenous route or per oral from
preoperative 1st day to postoperative 7 day. In result, urine was acidified in 15 of 20 patients and 7 patients which showed increased WBC count in urine preoperative normalized WBC count postoperative. In conclusion, megadose therapy of the
vitamin C
made urine acidification and diminished pyuria.
